Personal Care vs. Companion Care: What's the Difference?

One of the most common questions we hear from families is: what kind of home care does my loved one actually need?

What Is Personal Care?

Personal care involves direct physical assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and medication reminders. In New Jersey, this must be provided by a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA).

What Is Companion Care?

Companion care is non-medical support: companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, grocery shopping, errands, and transportation to appointments.

Can You Get Both?

Absolutely. Most clients benefit from a combination. Contact us at (732) 889-8444 or request a free assessment.
